Abstract

This study proposes to determine whether there is a significant difference of using questioning on students’ speaking ability at State Madrasah Aliyah 1 Pekanbaru. In this research, the researcher used pre-experimental research design, which were selected into one group pre-test and post-test as the sample that consisted of 32 students.. The technique of collecting the data was test, which were given pre-test and post-test before and after the treatment. The test used in order to find out the students’ speaking ability at the first grade of State Madrasah Aliyah 1 Pekanbaru. The technique of data analysis was Paired sample T-Test by using SPSS 16. Based on the data analysis, the researcher concludes that there is a significant difference between students’ speaking ability before and after the treatment by using questioning technique at the first grade students of State Madrasah Aliyah 1 Pekanbaru. From this data analysis, if the value of sig. (2tailed) is less than .05 soHa will be accepted. The result of the data, if the value of sig.(2-tailed) is .000, it means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. And the magnitude significant of using questioning technique at the first grade students of State Madrasah Aliyah 1 Pekanbaru is 0.78 that categorize is Large Size.
