Abstract
Based on this preliminary research, it was found that eighth grade students at State Junior High School 10 Tapung Kampar Regency had difficulties on their reading comprehension in narrative text such as identifying main idea, generic structure, language features, reference and meaning of words. This research aimed to find out the effect of using Reciprocal Questioning (Request) strategy on reading comprehension of eighth grade students at State Junior High School 10 Tapung Kampar Regency. Moreover, the design of this research was a quasiexperimental. Therefore, this research used two groups; control group and experimental group. The subject of this research was eighth grade students at State Junior High School 10 Tapung Kampar Regency. The object of this research was the effect of using Reciprocal Questioning (Request) strategy and their reading comprehension in narrative text. In this research, 42 students from 135 students were chooses as samples by using cluster random sampling. To analyze the data, the writer used independent sample t-test by using SPSS 23 version and effect size formula. Based on the data analysis, it was proved by finding of effect size formula was 0.10. It was categorized as moderate effect. It means that there was a significant effect of using Reciprocal Questioning (Request) strategy on reading comprehension of eighth grade students at State Junior High School 10 Tapung Kampar Regency.
