Abstract
problem in speaking skill, the problems are: lack of self confidence while speak English, could not speak accurately, inclined quiet during learning process, and lack of vocabulary. The main purpose of this research was to find out if there was a significant effect of using Rotating Roles Technique on Students’ Speaking Ability at the Second year of Az-zuhra Islamic junior High School Pekanbaru. In this research, the type of research used was a pre-experimental research, single group pretest-posttest.The writer used one group pre-test and post-test as sample that consisted of 25 students. Before giving the treatment, the students were given pre-test, then post-test after the treatment. The technique of collecting data both pretest and post test was an oral test. The test was used in order to find out the students’ Speaking Ability at the Second year Students of Az-zuhra Islamic Junior High School Pekanbaru. The technique of data analysis was paired Sample TTest, using SPSS 16 Version. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that t o = 12.13, higher than t t at level of 5% and 1% , at level 5% is = 2.09 and in 1%= 2.87. It can be read as 2.09<12.13>2.87. It means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Based on the result of data analysis, the researcher concluded that there was a significant effect of using Rotating Roles Technique on Students’ Speaking Ability before and after taught by using Rotating roles technique at the Second year of Az-zuhra Islamic Junior High School Pekanbaru.
