Abstract
This research was conducted based on the problems faced by the students in learning English especially in reading narrative text. The researcher found that the students still had difficulties in comprehending the reading text. So, the researcher was interested in carrying out the research about these problems. In this case, the researcher provided Round Robin technique to help students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. The objectives of the research were to find out the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text of the tenth grade at Islamic senior high school Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang taught by using Round Robin technique, to find out the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text of the tenth grade at Islamic senior high school Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang without being taught by using Round Robin technique and to find out whether or not there was a significant effect of using Round Robin technique on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text of the tenth grade at Islamic senior high school Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang. In this research, the research design was a Quasi-Experimental research. The population of the research was the tenth grade students of Islamic Senior High School Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang in academic year 2016/2017. They consisted of six classes. The total number of population was 182 students. The number of sample was 60 taken from two classes (30 students in each class). The technique of collecting data used by researcher was test, used to find out the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. The technique of analyzing data was an independent sample t-test and it was analyzed by using SPSS 17 program. Finally, based on the research findings, the researcher concluded that there was a significant effect of using Round Robin technique on Students’ reading comprehension of narrative text at Islamic senior high school Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang. The researcher found that 2.00<6.756>2.66. So, it can be analyzed that to is higher than T-table in either 5% or 1%. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected.
