Abstract
This research entitles The Effect of Recognizing Story Structure Startegy on Students’ Reading Comprehension in Narrative Text of The Eighth Grade at The Islamic Junior High School Darel Hikmah Pekanbaru. The objective of the research is to find out students’ reading comprehension in narrative text taught by using recognizing story structure strategy, to know students’ reading comprehension in narrative text taught without using recognizing story structure strategy, to know is there any significant different between the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text taught by using and without using recognizing story structure strategy, and to know is there any significant effect of using recognizing story structure strategy on the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text at The Islamic Junior High School Darel Hikmah Pekanbaru. In this research, the type of research used was quasi experimental research. The researcher took two groups as control and experimental class. The researcher used two classes as sample that consists of 50 students. Before giving the treatment, the students were given pre-test and post-test were given after the treatment. The technique of collecting data was the test. The test was used in order to find out the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text at the eighth grade students of the Islamic Junior High School Darel Hikmah Pekanbaru. In collecting the data, the researcher used multiple choices test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used independent sample T-test formula calculated by using SPSS 20. continued by using eta square formula. Based on the analysis of t-test Formula, tobtain is lower than t-table, where t-obtain is 0,05 and t-table is 0,08. It could be stated that 0,05<0,08. Then, the effect size is sig. value is 0.000. It could be stated that 0.000<0.05. Then, the effect size is 0.99 at very large level, thus Ha1 and Ha2 are accepted. The researcher concluded that there is significant effect of using Recognizing Story Structure Strategy on students’ reading comprehension in narrative text at The Islamic Junior High School Darel Hikmah Pekanbaru.
