Abstract

Based on the preliminary research, it was found that students of the tenth grade at State Senior High School 1 Bandar Petalangan was difficulties in understanding English learning. This research consisted of two variables, learning styles (visual and auditory) as variable X, and students’ English achievement as variable Y. This research was a causal-comparative research. The main focus of this research is to investigate whether there was a significant difference of learning style (visual and auditory) in English achievement. In analyzing the data, the writer used descriptive statistic and independent sample T-test calculated by using SPSS 16.0 version. Based on the analysis of descriptive statistic, English achievement of visual is categorized into sufficient level and English achievement of auditory is categorized into good level. Then, the analysis of independent sample T-test, the result showed that score of t-observed was higher than the score of t-table (2.048<5.727>2.763). Hence, it can be concluded that HO was rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on the result finding, it can be concluded there was significant difference on students’ English achievement between visual and auditory learning style at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 1 Bandar Petalangan.
