Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the book "When English Rings a Bell" for the seventh grade of the 2017 revised edition, whether it is in accordance with the demands of the 2013 curriculum. The researcher analyzed this book with Descriptive Qualitative Research Design. Four questions were asked to determine the suitability between this textbook and the curriculum 2013. This textbook consists of eight chapters, but researchers analyzed three chapters as sample research: chapter 1, chapter 4, and chapter 7. Based on the data presented, this textbook is in accordance with core competence 3 and core competence 4. While core competence 1, and core competence 2 are not written in the textbook. In this textbook, the material presented is only general in nature; it is not explained in detail. For example, chapters 1 and 4 of the materials are presented only briefly, and in chapter 7 there is no explanation of the text of the description. In the scientific approach, there are 5 important parts: observing, questioning, experimenting, associating, and communicating. Chapter 1 does not provide questioning and associating while chapter 4 and chapter 7 lack of questioning, while on the overall authentic assessment, the portfolio assessment is missing. Finally, it can be concluded that the English textbook "When English Rings a Bell" for the seventh grade of the 2017 revised edition is less in line with the demands of the 2013 curriculum.
