Abstract

Based on the researcher’s preliminary observation, the students at the Vocational High School 3 Pekanbaru got difficulties in resolve their anxiety while perform in front of the people especially while storytelling. This research aimed at studying students’ anxiety in storytelling at the tenth grade of vocational high school 3 Pekanbaru. This research was descriptive research design. The population and sample of this research was the tenth grade students of Vocational High School 3 Pekanbaru. There were 41 samples which were selected by random sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher ask the students to do storytelling test and distributed questionnaire, and the analyzed the data by using descriptive statistic using SPSS version 16.0. After analyzing the data, it was found that “panic level” students’ anxiety was a major students’ anxiety level experienced by the students with percentage 65.85%, “severe level” students’ anxiety was a second major experienced by the students with percentage 17.03%, “mild level” students’ anxiety was a third major experienced by the students with percentage 14.63%, and “moderate level” students’ anxiety was a last major experienced by the students with percentage 2.43%.
