Abstract

ABSTRACT Kurnia Wahyuni Ritonga, (2020): The Correlation Between Students’ Self-Efficacy in Learning English and Their Listening Comprehension at the Eleventh Grade of Islamic Senior High School Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. This research was conducted based on students’ problem in selfefficacy in learning English and their listening comprehension. This research was a correlational research. The research had two variables, students’ self-efficacy as an independent variable and students’ listening comprehension as a dependent variable. The subject of this research was the eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru and the object of this research was the correlation between students’ self-efficacy and listening comprehension. The population of this research was 151 students. To choose the sample, the researcher used simple random sampling technique and got 30 students as the sample. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire for students’ selfefficacy and test for listening comprehension. From the data analysis which had been done by using SPSS 23.0 version, it could be seen that there was a significant correlation between students self-efficacy and their listening comprehension. It could be shown that the probability of score sig.t value is 0.000, can be stated that 0.000<0.05. It means that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other words, there was a significant correlation between students self-efficacy and listening comprehension. Based on the result of the research, the students’ self-efficacy has correlation with their listening comprehension. It means the better self-efficacy they have, the better listening comprehension they get. Keywords: Correlation, Students’ Self-Efficacy, Listening Comprehension
