Abstract

One of the factors influenced the students’ motivation in learning speaking English, that was inappropriate teaching method used by the teacher. Therefore, it needs a solution to develop that learning. That solution was learning by using Sociodrama Method. This research was conducted with purpose to know whether there is a significant difference of motivation in learning speaking English between taught without using Sociodrama. Method and taught by using Sociodrama Method at the first year students of Islamic Senior High School Insan Cendekia Siak . This research was an experimental research. The design of this research was a quasi experimental design, which used the nonequivalent control group design. This research consisted of two groups, they were an experimental group and the other one was a control group. The technique of collecting the data was the questionnaire. The questionnaire was used in order to find out the students’ motivation in learning speaking English. The result of the data analysis was 6.861. This result was to compare between t table by considering df (Degree of Freedom) 38 (N-2) and tcalculated. Because t calculated > t table (6.861 > 2,093), it means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The writer concluded that there is a significant difference of motivation in learning speaking English between students’ motivation taught without using Sociodrama Method and taught by using Sociodrama Method at the First Year Students of Islamic Senior High School Insan Cendekia Siak.
