Abstract
This reseach discussed about the influence of students’ reading interest to their ability to Find the Main Idea of Narrative Text at the Third Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Hasanah Pekanbaru. There were 3 formulations of the problems, they were: (1) How is the students’ reading interest of the third grade at Madrasah Aliyah Hasanah Pekanbaru. (2) How is the students’ ability to find the main idea of narrative text at the third grade of Madrasah Aliyah Hasanah Pekanbaru. (3) Is there any influence of students’ reading interest to their ability to find main the idea of narrative text at the third grade of Madrasah Aliyah Hasanah Pekanbaru. This research was a correlational research. The questionnaire and test were administered and distributed to the 33 students to be the respondents. The writer analyzed the data by using Pearson “r” Product Moment Correlation using SPSS 22 program in order to find out whether or not there was any significant influence of students’ reading interest to their ability to Find the Main Idea of Narrative Text at the Third Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Hasanah Pekanbaru. The result showed p was 0.000, the 2-tailed value was smaller than 0.05 (p<0.05). Moreover, the writer found that the value of correlation coefficient (r) is 0.693. It means the hypotheses Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. So, it can be concluded that there was significant influence of students’ reading interest to their ability to find the main idea of narrative text at Madrasah Aliyah Hasanah Pekanbaru.
