Abstract

This research is entitled “The Correlation between Students’ Listening Comprehension and Their Speaking Ability at the State Senior High School Pekanbaru” the research has 3 formulation of the problem that how is the correlation between students’ listening comprehension and their speaking ability at the state senior high school 12 Pekanbaru, is there any correlation between students’ listening comprehension and their speaking ability at the state senior high school 12 Pekanbaru, how large is significant correlation between students’ listening comprehension on their speaking ability at the state senior high school 12 Pekanbaru. This research is correlational research. There were two variable used in this research. The first is variable X (students’ listening comprehension) and the second is variable Y (students’ speaking ability). The subject of this research was the eleventh grade of state senior high school 12 Pekanbaru, while the object of this research is the correlation between students’ listening comprehension and their speaking ability. The instruments used in this research were test. Listening comprehension test is English song and speaking ability test students choose one of five topic procedure text and explain the ideas in front the class. To analyze the data by using Pearson product moment correlation on SPSS 17.0 program, after analyzed the data, the result of correlation is 0.613. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. In the other words, there is a significant correlation between listening comprehension and their speaking ability at state senior high school 12 Pekanbaru.
