Abstract
Writing skill is one of the English language that should be taught and mastered for the students. Most of the students has difficulty in writing paragraph expecially in descriptive paragraph. The subject of this research was the first year students at Islamic Senior Boarding School Al Hidayah Kampar, while the object was students’ writing ability in Dedscriptive Paragraph. The research had been conducted to the first year students of Islamic Senior Boarding School Al Hidayah Kampar Timur district Kampar Regency. The total number of population is 128 students and the writer took 28 students as sample of this research by using produc moment. To collect the data, the writer used test to know about the students’ writing ability in descriptive paragraph. Then to analyze the data, the writer used SPSS versi 17. The result shows that the writer found students writing ability in descriptive paragraph was 80.17(excellent). And there is moderate their writing ability in descriptive paragraph of the first year students at Islamic Senior Boarding School Al Hidayah Kampar. From the data analysis, the writer found that the score of sig. (2-tailed) was small then score of Ho. Therefore, the null (H0) hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted (0.007< 0.05 ). It is mean that there is moderate their writing ability in descriptive paragraph of the first year students at Islamic Senior Boarding School Al Hidayah Kampar..
