Abstract

The problem faced by the students at state Senior High School 2 KerinciKanan in Speaking English needed the solution. In this case, the students difficult to express their ideas orally and the teacher was expected to find a good strategy, for this reason the writer has interested in carrying out a research. The purpose of this research were to find out whether there is significant difference of speaking ability before being taught by using twins strategy for experimental class and conventional teaching strategy for control class of the second year students at State Senoir High School 2 Kerinci Kanan, to find out whether there is significant difference of speaking ability after being taught by using twins strategy for experimental class and conventional teaching strategy for control class of the second year students at State Senoir High School 2 Kerinci Kanan, and whether there is a significant effect of using twins strategy toward speaking ability of the second year at state Senoir High School 2 Kerinci Kanan. The design of this research was a quasi experimental research with non equivalent control group design. The writer conducted this research at state Senoir High School 2 Kerinci Kanan. The subject of this research was the second year students at state Senior High School 2KerinciKanan. The object of this research was the effect using twins strategy toward students’ speaking Ability.The population of this research was all of the second year students at state Senior High School 2 Kerinci Kanan. The writer took two classes as sample of the research. They were XI IPS 1 as a control class and XI IPS 2 as an experimental class. To analyze the data, the writer used Independent T-test Formula and Paired Sample T-testby using SPSS 16.0. Based on data analysis of students’ mean score pre-test and post- test in experimental class. Finally based on the analysis of T- test formula, it was found that Towas higher than Tt either at level of significance of 5% and 1%. In other words, can be read2,03<19.168>2,84. so, the writer can conclude that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. from the result of percentage of Kp, it can be seen that twins strategy contributed 53.08% for students’ speaking ability It means that, there was significant effect of using Twins strategy toward speaking ability of the second year students at state Senior High School 2 Kerinci Kanan.
