Abstract

The main purpose of the study is to find out the students’ participation of recount text, to find out students’ writing ability, to find out whether the using of Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM)strategy gives the significant effect toward students’ participation and writing ability at the language development center of UIN SUSKA RIAU Pekanbaru. The study of the research is a Quasi-experimental research where pretest and posttest designs are given in this research. The sample of this research is second level students at Language Development Center of UIN SUSKA RIAU Pekanbaru. They are experimental class (PB 20 )and control class (PB 19)by totalling 59 students. The data are collected by using writing tests in recount text and participation questionnaire. PWIM strategy is used in this research. The result of this research shows that: 1. there is significant effect on implementing the treatment of PWIM strategy on students’ participation in Experimental Group. The t-test result is 12,243, its def is 30, by comparing number of significance. If probability >0.05, the null hypothesis (H0 ) is rejected. If probability <0.05, alternative hypothesis (Ha ) is accepted. Because the significance is 0.000 < 0.05, thus, Ha is accepted while H0 is rejected. 2. There is significant effect on implementing the treament of PWIM strategy on students’ writing participation for the experimental group. The t-test result is 12,243, its df is 30, by comparing number of significance. Because the significane is 0.000 < 0.05, thus, Ha is accepted while Ho is rejected.
