Abstract

Based on the researcher’s preliminary study, it was found that the students could not comprehend narrative text. This problem was caused by some factors. For example, some of them had difficulties in getting topic from reading narrative text and had difficulties analyzing the reading text. So, the researcher was interested in carrying out the research about this problem. The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of using 3 H (Here, Hidden, in my Head) strategy on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text at the second year of SMPN 1 Peranap Indragiri Hulu. The design of this research was a QuasiExperimental. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test by using multiple choices test consisting of twenty five items and to analyze the data, the researcher used Effect Size (ES) formula. The finding showed that the effect of treatment was 0.368 > 0.14 or categorized into large effect. It indicates that there is a significant effect of using 3 H (Here, Hidden, in my Head) strategy on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text at SMPN 1 Peranap Indragiri Hulu Regency.
