Abstract
This research entitles” The Effect of Using Possible Sentences Strategy toward Students’ Vocabulary in Reading Comprehension of The Second Grade Student at Senior High School 1 Bangkinang Kota”. The research has 3 formulation of the problems that how students’ vocabulary in reading comprehension taught by using Possible Sentences Strategy is, how students’ vocabulary in reading comprehension taught without using Possible Sentences Strategy is, and whether there is any significant effect of using Possible Sentences Strategy toward students’ vocabulary in reading comprehension of the second grade student at Senior High School 1 Bangkinang Kota. So, The objectives of this research is to find out students’ vocabulary in reading comprehension taught without using Possible Sentences Strategy, to find out students’ vocabulary in reading comprehension taught without using Possible Sentences Strategy is, and to indentify whether there is any significant effect of using Possible Sentences Strategy toward students’ vocabulary in reading comprehension of the second grade student at Senior High School 1 Bangkinang Kota. This research was a quasi-experimental research. Therefore this research used two groups; control group and experimental group. The researcher formulated the problems that would be answered by using the quantitative research. The subject of the research was the second grade students of Senior High School 1 Bangkinang Kota. The object of this research was Possible Sentences Strategy and their writing ability in narrative paragraph. Sample of this research used Cluster Random Sampling. There were 40 students as sample from 118 students. To analyze the data, the writer used independent sample t-test by using SPSS 16 version. Based on the data analysis, the researcher found that the result t-test formula was 5.107 with df = 38, it was found the level significance of 5% was 2.02 and level significance of 1% was 2.70. The data showed that tobserve was higher than ttable; 2.02 <5.107>2.70, it means that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. It means that there was a significant difference of using Possible Sentences Strategy toward students’ vocabulary in reading comprehension of the eleventh grade students at Senior High School 1 Bangkinang Kota.
