Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze students’ difficulties in writing recount text at the tenth grade of State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 1 Kampar. The research design is descriptive qualitative research. The population of this research is the tenth-grade students of State Islamic Senior High School Kuok in academic year 2017/2018. The students were divided into 7 (seven) classes, in which 196 student population. The sample of this research was 27 students that were chosen by using purposive sampling. To collect the data, the researcher used writing test. Writing test is used to know students’ difficulties in writing recount text by analyzing students’ writing about their unforgettable experience, and their writing was scored by two raters. The research finding showed the average of students’ score was 56.3 which was categorized “Difficult”. In this research, the researcher found some problems related to students’ difficulties in five aspects of writing: content, organization, vocabulary, grammar and mechanics. Most of the students faced more difficulties in mechanics, grammar and vocabulary. Keywords: Analysis, Students’ Difficulties, Recount Text
