Abstract
This research was conducted based on the problems of the students in learning English especially in reading narrative text. Based on the preliminary research, the researcher found that some of the students were unable to identify the main idea, factual information, locating the meaning, communicative purposes and meaning of vocabulary. In this problems, the researcher provided Triple Entry Vocabulary Journal Strategy to improve students’ reading comprehension. The purpose of this research is to determine if there is an influence in using Triple Entry Vocabulary Journal Strategy on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. In this research, the research design was an experimental research. The design of this reseach was quasi-experimental design. Furthermore, the sample was the second grade of Junior High School 1 Kunto Darussalam in academic 2017/2018. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test. In collecting data, the type of test was multiple choice test. The technique of analyzing data was an independent sample t-test by using SPSS 16.0 version. Finally, based on the researcher findings, that t-test was 7.226 and the significant was 0.000<0.05. It means that Ho was rejected, while Ha was accepted. Meanwhile, to find how magnitude effect of using Triple Entry Vocabulary Journal Strategy, the researcher used eta squared (effect size) formula. The researcher found eta squared was 0.491 (large effect). So, the researcher concluded that there is sighnificant effect of using Triple Entry Vocabulary Jornal Strategy on studens’ reading ccomprehension in narrative text at Second Grade of Junior High School 1 Kunto Darussalam.
