Abstract
The aims of this research were to analyse the cohesion and coherence in writing analytical exposition text. Cohesion and coherence were important in order to make the quality of the writing was good. This research was qualitative research by using descriptive approach in analysing the cohesion and coherence aspect faced by the second students in writing analytical exposition text. Furthermore, the researcher analysed the 30 result of students’ writing. The descriptive data and written words. Then, the finding of this research was analysed by the Halliday theories about the types of cohesion and coherence. Based on the result of analysis the researcher found the result of the research; first, the kinds of cohesion used by students in writing analytical exposition were reference, conjunction and repetition. Second, kinds of coherence used by the students in writing analytical exposition was transition signal. Last, the dominant type used by students in constructing cohesion was reference. Then, the dominant type used by students in constructing coherence was transition signal. Keywords: Cohesion, Coherence, Analytical Exposition
