Abstract

The research had 3 formulations of the problems; How is students’ English learning achievement taught by using PowerPoint, how is students’ English learning achievement taught by using whiteboard, and whether there is or no a significant difference of English learning achievement between students who were taught by using PowerPoint and whiteboard at tenth grade of plus senior high school of Riau province. The objectives of the research was to find out whether there was any significant difference of English learning achievement between students who were taught by using PowerPoint and whiteboard at tenth grade of plus senior high school of Riau province. The research design was causalcomparative research. The population of this research was the tenth grade of Plus Senior High School of Riau province in 2017-2018 academic years. The sample of this research was 50 students where 25 students’ X MS 1 taught by using PowerPoint and 20 students’ X MS 2 taught by using whiteboard. The technique of collecting data used by the researcher was documentation. The technique analyzing data was an independent sample t-test by using SPSS 22.0 program. Based on the data analysis, the researcher conclude that there was no significant difference of English learning achievement between students who were taught by using PowerPoint and Whiteboard at tenth grade of Plus Senior High School of Riau Province. It was considered from 2 sig-tailed value 0.286 that was higher than (0.05) with significant level (5%). it means that Ha was rejected and Ho was accepted. from the research finding, it showed that there was no significant difference of English learning achievement between students who were taught by using PowerPoint and those who were taught by using Whiteboard at tenth grade of Plus Senior High School of Riau Province.
