The main focus of this research is to investigate whether there was a significant difference between male and female’s understanding on context clues in descriptive text at Senior High School LKMD Sukaramai. This research consisted of two variables; students’ understanding of context clues in descriptive text as a dependent variable and male and female students as an independent variable. This research was a causal comparative research. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of Senior High School LKMD Sukaramai. The writer selected 50% students from the population as the sample by simple random sampling. There were 54 students as sample out of 108 students. In collecting the data, the writer used reading test in form of multiple choice test. In analysing the data, the writer used descriptive statistic and independent sample Ttest formula calculated by using SPSS 20.0 version. Based on the analysis of descriptive statistic, male students understanding of context clues in descriptive text are categorized into less level, while female students understanding of context clues in descriptive text are categorized into good level. Then, the analysis of independent sample T-test Formula, the result showed that the sig 2-tailed is 0.00 lower than 0.05 (0.00 < 0.05). Hence, it can be concluded that H˳ is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the research findings, it can be conclude there is significant difference between male and female’s understanding on context clues in descriptive text at Senior High School LKMD Sukaramai.
