Abstract

The study of wasathiyah is a theme that is so important and interesting to review. Wasathiyah is an Islamic teaching that guides its people to act fairly, proportionately, in balance and to provide benefits. Wasathiyah is not a new teaching that emerged in the modern or present century, but was already in existence when the revelation came down and the arrival of Islam on this earth 14 centuries ago. Likewise, Islamic educational institutions, which often represent Islamic institutions in government. Indonesia is a country that consists of many tribes, groups, races and religions, of course it is very easy to create divisions within it, many divisions in the Indonesian nation stem from liberal and extremist ideologies that are included in Islamic teachings. To counteract these two extreme camps, Islamic religious education is an important part in realizing wasathiyah. A positive perspective positions various reviews regarding wasathiyah in various media as a sign of scientific enthusiasm and Islamic enthusiasm among Muslims. However, it is necessary to strengthen and deepen the perspective and foundation of wasathiyah, so that later it can be socialized and become a correct and adequate reference, seeing that some of the socialized perspectives on wasathiyah actually come out of the essence and substance of wasathiyah itself. Among the strengthening and deepening of the wasathiyah theme is the search for the true meaning of wasathiyah from the Qur'an. Of course, by looking at the opinion of the commentators, one of them is the interpretation of al-Maraghi which has the style of interpretation of Adabi wal Ijtma'i. Wasathiyah values in the perspective of Al-Qur'an interpretation are important to review, because the signs and contents of the Qur'an are full of inspirations that can continue to develop and can be used as a guide in the dynamics of Islamic thought. This research is a qualitative type with a library research approach. The conclusion of this study, according to al-Maraghi's interpretation of wasathiyah values and their relevance to Islamic Religious Education is that Islamic Religious Education already contains wasathiyah values, the wasathiyah values are: al-'Adalah/'adl (justice), al -Khariyah (the chosen people, the best), at-Taisir (ease), al-Hikmah (wisdom), al-Istiqomah (commitment, consistency), and at-Tawazun (balanced, proportional). so that it is closely related to the world of Islamic religious education. keywords: wasathiyah, al-Maraghi's interpretation, Islamic religious education
