Abstract
ABSTRACT Lastarida Mangunsong (2021): The Analysis of Students’ Vocabulary Knowledge on Comprehending Report Text at Vocational Taruna Masmur Pekanbaru. Vocabulary is the most important component in learning and teaching English. Knowledge of vocabulary is one way for students to develop their English language skills. The knowledge and word often make the distinction between oral and vocabulary or the word recognize and use in reading and writing. In communicating or using English, you must be able to master the English vocabulary well. This research aimed to determine the students‟ vocabulary knowledge on comprehending report text at vocational taruna masmur pekanbaru. This research used quantitative research with 30 students of tenth grade as a sample at the Vocational Taruna Masmur Pekanbaru. This research was held on Agustus 06, 2021 at Department of English Education UIN SUSKA RIAU. The data collected from 30 sample, the data collection in this research used a multiple choice test was used to measure students‟ vocabulary knowledge on comprehending report text. Based on the result of research, students‟ vocabulary knowledge on comprehending report text was categorized to a enough level, namely 65. There were three indicators used in this research, namely form of vocabulary, meaning of vocabulary and use of vocabulary. The students‟ overall mean score for each indicator was 54,5 for mean score of form of vocabulary, 70 for mean score of meaning of vocabulary, and 59 for mean score of use of vocabulary. Of the three indicators in this research, the highest knowledge is meaning of vocabulary and the lowest is form of vocabulary.
