Abstract

ABSTRACT Al-Fikri Abrar (2019): The Influence of English Teacher Competency on Students’ Learning Achievement at State Junior High School 1 Tempuling Regency of Indragiri Hilir The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a significant correlation between the English teacher competency and students’ learning achievement at State Junior High School 1 Tempuling Regency of Indragiri Hilir. The design of this research is correlational research. There were 75 students as research samples through the simple random sampling technique. To collect the data, researcher used documentation of English Teacher Performance Assessment Software and documentation of students’ learning achievement in students’ report card. Researchers use serial correlation to analyze the data. The results of this research indicate that the score of the relationship between teacher competency and student achievement in State Junior High School 1 Tempuling is 0.438. When compared rt with rxy, rxy is higher both at the significance level of 5% and at a significance level of 1%. It can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between English teacher competency and students’ learning achievement. Key word: competency, learning achievement.
