Abstract

ABSTRACT Meliyani Aptari, (2019): The Relationship between Students' Reading Habit and their Reading Comprehension at State Junior High School 14 Pekanbaru The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between students’ reading habit and their reading comprehension of the seventh grade students at Junior High School 14 Pekanbaru. There were two instruments used in collecting the data for this research. For reading habit, the researcher used questionnaire. Then, for reading comprehension, the researcher used reading comprehension test in form of multiple choices. The population of this research is 280 students. Then, in taking the sample, the researcher used simple random sampling and chose 56 students from seventh classes as the sample. By using product moment formula through SPSS 21.0 in analyzing the data, the researcher found that Robserved is ,525**, bigger than Rtable which is 0.222 (Ro > Rt). It means that Ha was accepted, or there is a significant correlation. The writer also found that 28% of reading comprehension of eleventh grade students at state senior high school 2 Mandau was influenced by reading habit.
