Abstract

Based on the preliminary study at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 12 Pekanbaru, the researcher found that students had some problem in reading comprehension of report text. Actually there are some phenomena that make the students unable reach the standard of the goals, such as some of students may not understand the form of a report text well, they are still confused about the generic structure in report text, and some of students are not able to find out the main idea of report text. So, the writer was interested in carrying out the research about this problem. The main purpose of this research was to find out the students’ reading comprehension of report text. The formulation of the problem was how is the students reading comprehension of report text at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 12 Pekanbaru. The design of this research was descriptive which focused on one variable. The research was administered at State Senior High School 12 Pekanbaru. The subject of this research was the the tenth grade at State Senior High School 12 Pekanbaru in academic year 2018-2019 and the object of this research was to find out the students’ reading comprehension of report text. Afer analyzing the data, the researcher found that the mean score of the students was 75.6. It can be concluded that the students’ reading comprehension of report text at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 12 Pekanbaru was categorized into sufficient level.
