Abstract

Based on the preliminary research, it was found that the Eleventh grade State Senior High School 1 Kampar Kiri Tengah get difficulties in writing. It can be seen that some of the students were not able to writing a spoof text. The aim of the research is to find out the correlation between students’ simple past tense mastery and writing spoof text ability at State Senior High School 1 Kampar Kiri Tengah. The design of this research is correlational research design. The population of the research is the Eleventh grade of State Senior High School 1 Kampar Kiri Tengah. The number of sample is selected by using cluster random sampling technique. To get the data, the researcher gave two tests, and then analyzed the data by using pearson product moment calculated by SPSS 23.0 program. After analyzing the data, the result of the score of Sig. (in SPSS table is 0.433) ≥ α (0.05) Ho is accepted .It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. In other words, there is a significant correlation between students’ simple past tense mastery and writing spoof text ability at the eleventh garde students of state senior high school 1 kampar kiri tengah.
