So, the writer was interested in carrying out the research about this problem. The research was administered at SMAN 1 Tempuling. The subject was the first grade students of SMAN 1 Tempuling, and the object of this research was the effect of using Creative Mapping Strategy towards Students’ reading comprehension in narrative text. The design of this research was a Quasi experimental non-equivalent research by pre-test and post test. The writer took two classes they were experimental class and control class. The total population was 110 students and the sample of the research was 60 students, in which 30 students were as experiment class and 30 students were as control class. In collecting the data, the test used was multiple choices. The research adopted independent sample t-test formula by using software SPSS 16 version. After analyzing the data, the writer found that there was a significant effect of using Creative Mapping strategy towards students’ reading comprehension in narrative text, at significant level 5% it shows 2.00, and at level 1% it shows 2.65. We can read 2.00 <8.881> 2.65. It means null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other words, there is a significant effect of using creative Mapping strategy towards students’ reading comprehension in narrative text at the first of SMAN 1 Tempuling.
