Abstract

Turmeric contains curcuma as the active substance is an antioxidant and as an antimicrobial atsiri oil. The effect of content the active compound in turmeric powder as a feed additive can be evaluated from the broiler physiological condition among blood profile. The purpose of this research was to know the blood profile of broilers included the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels and hematocrit value with the addition of turmeric powder (Curcuma domestica Val.) into its commercial ration. The broilers used in this experiment were 8 days old as much as 60 broilers. The tools used in collecting blood specimens were 3 cc syringe and blood tube. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisted of 4 treatments and 5 replications with additional feed combinations as T1 (commercial ration 100%), T2 (commercial ration + 9% turmeric powder), T3 (commercial ration + 12% turmeric powder) and T4 (commercial ration + 15% turmeric powder). Data obtained and analysed by analysis of variance according to a completely randomized design. The average of each parameter during the research was 2,14x106mm3 for the number of erytrhrocytes, 7,88±0,96 gr% for hemoglobin levels and 27,00±2,65% for hematocrit value. The results of this research showed there was no significantly different (P>0,05) on the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels and hematocrit value.
