Abstract

This study had quasi-experimental design which was intended to find out the effect of using picture story on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. The population was the tenth grade students of MAN 3 Padang Panjang. The sample was 50 students chosen through cluster random sampling technique and classified into two classes, experimental and controlled class. The instrument was using questionnaire and the researcher used SPSS 20. The finding of the study shows that post-test mean score of experimental class is 79, while post-test mean score of controlled class is 71,2. It means that there is significant difference between post-test mean score of both classes. Therefore, it indicated that (Ho) is rejected and (Ha) is accepted. In other words, there is significant effect of having picture story on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text is effective at the tenth grade students MAN 3 Padang Panjang.
