Abstract

The objectives of the research were to find out how the students’ listening comprehension taught by using Focus Trio Strategy of the Second at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu was, to find out how the students’ listening comprehension taught without using Focus Trio of the second grade students at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu Kampar Regency was, whether there was significant effect of using Focus Trio strategy or not toward listening comprehension of the Second Grade Students at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu Kampar Regency. In this research, the type of the research used was quasi experimental research in which the researcher could not create a new participant groups for this experiment. The writer took nonequivalent control group design. The writer used two classes as samples in which consisted of 80 students by using cluster sampling technique. Before giving the treatments, the students were given pre-test and after the treatments they were given post-test. The technique of collecting the data was test. The test was used in order to find out listening comprehension of the Second Grade students at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu Kampar Regency. The research findings showed that the improvement could be seen from the score of test. The result was analyzed by using SPSS 16. The result found that to was higher than t-table. The total score of t-test was 3.166 compared with ttable with significance at level 5% and 1% (1.99<3.166>2.64). It means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Therefore, it could be concluded that there was significant effect of using Focus Trio Strategy toward listening comprehension of the Second Grade Students at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu Kampar Regency
