The purpose of this research was to know the effect of using Listen, Engage, Think, and Say (L.E.T.S) CONNECT strategy toward students’ reading comprehension on recount text. Based on the writer’s preliminary observation it was found that the students could not comprehend the meaning of the text in their text books especially in recount text. This problem was caused by some factors, for example, some students were not able to identify main idea of recount text, they were not able to identify the generic structure of recount text, they had lack vocabularies, and they were not able to identify languange features of recount text. So, the writer was interested in carrying out the research about these problems. This research was administered at junior high school 1 Tambang Kampar Regency, The subject was the second grade students at Junior High School Tambang, and the object of this research was using Listen, Engage, Think, and Say (L.E.T.S) CONNECT strategy toward reading comprehension on recount text. This research was experimental research by using non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research was all of the second grade students at SMPN 1 Tambang Kampar Regency in which the total number of the students was 60 students, divided into 3 classes that each class consisted of 20 students. In taking the sample the researcher used random sampling, deciding II 2 as an experimental class and II 1 as control class. In collecting the data, the researcher used test. In analyzing data, the researcher used SPSS 16 version. After analyzing the data, the researcher found the result of independent sample t-test formula, T showed 3,638 compared at significant level 5% (2.02) and at significant level 1% (2.72). It can be read 2.02<3,638>2.72. It means, null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other word, there is a significant effect of using listen, engage, think, and say (L.E.T.S) CONNECT strategy toward student’s reading comprehesion on recount text of the second grade students at SMPN 1 Tambang Kampar Regency.
