Abstract

Based on the writer preminilary observation, it was found that the students’ have some problem in Speaking ability. The problems were formulated into 3, (1) how is students’ speaking ability taught without using Picture Strip Story technique (2)how is students’ speaking ability taught by using Picture Strip Story technique (3) Is there any significant effect of students’ speaking ability taught by using Picture Strip Story technique.The objectives of the research was To find out students’ Speaking ability taught withoutusing Picture Strip Story Technique, to find out students’ Speaking ability taught by using Picture Strip Story Technique, to find out if there is any significant effect of using Picture Strip Story Technique toward speaking ability of the second grade students at MA ALIhsan Buluh Rampai. Type of this research was quasi-experimental. The writer used pre-test and post-test which design with Nonequivalent Group and took two classes;one class was an experimental group and one class was a control group. Each class or group consisted of 20 students. Before giving treatment, both of group were given pretest and post-test. Only experimental group was treated by using Picture Strip Story technique. The technique of collecting the data used test. The technique of data analysis used independent sample T-test formula by using SPSS 16.0 program in order to find out whether or not there was any significant effect of using Picture Strip Story toward Speaking ability of the second grade students at MA AL-Ihsan Buluh Rampai. Based on the data analysis,it was found that to 8.862 is higher than tt at level 5%(2,02) and level 1 % (2.72). In conclusion, Null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which showed 2.02<8.862>2.72. In other words, it indicated that the implementation of Picture Strip Story technique was effective and from the data above, it can be concluded that the students’ ability in speaking had been improved by using Picture Strip Story technique.
