Abstract

This research titled "As-Sama’ Soul Disinfection Media, Thinking Study of Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali in the book of Ihya' 'Ulam ad-Din", because motivated by a debate amongst the scholars about law music or as-sama ', Imam Al-Ghazali as Hujjah Islam, Islamic Defenders, because "his defense" of thought erroneously of AlFarabi, Ibn Sina, Ibn Rusy, and other about theology and philosophy, but in the musical aspect Al-Ghazali instead not at odds with them. therefore, important to find out the more in depth thinking of Al-Ghazali about this as-sama’ into a research. Based on this, then this research wants to answer how thinking of Abu Hamid al-Ghazali about as-sama'? and how implementation of the thinking concept of Abu Hamid al-Ghazali about as-sama ' in modern society? This research includes research library Research results show that the first, according to Al-Ghazali that listening to music is human nature as creatures is endowed by God sense of hearing. Therefore, according to him, use of music is not haram, but there are some things which can damage halalness of music, and it's found in music itself, but there is on effect and the impact when people can not appreciated music correctly. Even al-Ghazali stated that music is only one way to eject or penetrate something in heart that are most within that tend subtle and hidden The second, music is something that has been part of every development of human civilization. Al-Ghazali is great figures of Islam that have thinking that it music can be used in spiritual world so as not mislead people into straying. however, concept of psritual music Al-Ghazali can not be implemented completely because situation of social and cultural that have been different. Attempt to utilize the music in an increase experience of human spirituality never attempted by musicians indoensia not yet adequately represent the concept of Al-Gazali. and see the reality that development of contemporary music tends to change meaning, from contemplation of passion
