Abstract

This research aimed to find out the influence of listening strategy and listening anxiety on the listening comprehension of English study program Islamic University of Riau. The population of the research was 138 students and 103 were taken as the sample using random sampling technique. The subject of this research was the sixth-semester students at the study program. Then, the object was investigating the effect of listening strategies and anxiety in listening on their listening comprehension. The research was carried out through a correlational research approach. The population consisted of 138 students. Then, 103 of them were taken as the sample by using a random sampling technique. The data were collected by using a questionnaire and a test. The collected data were analyzed through linear regression and a multiple regression analysis. The results show that there is a significant of students’ listening strategies on their listening comprehension. There is also a significant influence of listening anxiety on their listening comprehension. In addition, there is a significant effect of the listening strategies and the listening anxiety on their listening comprehension.
