Abstract
Prostaglandins are widely used in both humans and livestock. PGF2α has luteolysis action or corpus luteum regurges in ruminants. Clinically, PGF2α has been widely used to regiment the corpus luteum and to stimulate smooth muscle and to induce dysfunction in dairy cows with reproductive disorders.the aim of this study to determine the performance of cow estrus after synchronization with PGF2α. This study used 9 head of cattle, with criteria of non-pregnant sample, had body condition score (BCS) 2, 2.5 and 3 in Kecamatan Siak Kecil Desa Langkat. The design used was Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of three treatments and three treatment groups I were: cows injected with PGF2α. Treatment II: Cow injected with PGF2α twice. Treatment III: Cows injected with PGF2α and HCG in each treatment group using 3 cows with PGF2α (intramuscular) injections of female cows at doses according to the average body weight of 254,800 kg and the manufacturer's recommendation: 5 ml / tail. The variables observed in this study were estrus velocity, estrus length, and estrous percentage. The conclusion showed that giving PGF2α 1 time and PGF2α 2 times by day 11 gave a high estrous percentage reaching 100% with a fast estrus velocity of 45, 17 hours.
