Abstract

Nowadays, technology is not only a tool for processing display and information but also as a tool for the smooth of teaching and learning process. This final project aims to find out how far the perception of students in the use of ICT as a tool for learning English, especially in terms of listening and speaking abilities. Data were obtained by questionnaire survey and student ability test. The data is processed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Linear Regression on Faculty of Engineering at Islamic University of Riau. The result indicated that the majority of students have a high perception of the use of ICT. However, there are still many students who got low and average score after the listening and speaking test. In conclusion, lecturers are expected to be more creative and innovative in finding and suggesting the use of applications to help improve listening and speaking ability of students so that it is expected that students who still get a low score can be helped by the use of English learning applications.
