Abstract

Based on the researcher’s preliminary study, it was found that Some of the students are lazy to practice speaking English, Some of the students get problem to comprehend what speakers say, Some of the students can not choose vocabulary accurately in expressing oral language, Some of the students can not understand the pattern or grammar of the language correctly, Some of the students could not understand the meaning when the speakers speak faster. The main purpose of this research was to find out if there was a significant Effect of Using Podcasts Media on Students’ Speaking Ability at Junior High School 2 Kampar Kiri Tengah. In this research, the type of research used was a pre-experimental research. The researcher used one group pre-test and post-test as sample that consisted of 20 students. Before giving the treatment, the students were given pre-test. Post-test was given after the treatment. The technique of collecting data was the test. The test was used in order to find out the students’ speaking ability at junior high school 2 kampar kiri tengah. The technique of data analysis was Independent Sample Test in order to find out The Effect Of Using Podcasts Media On Students’ Speaking Ability At Junior High School 2 Kampar Kiri Tengah by using SPSS 16 Version. Based on the data analysis, the researcher concludes that there is a significant Effect of Using Podcasts Media on Students’ Speaking Ability before and after being taught by Using Podcasts Media at Junior High School 2 Kampar Kiri Tengah by considering t o = 8.88, higher than t t at level of 5% and 1% at level 5% is = 2.09 and in 1%= 2.87. It can be seen that 2.09<8.88>2.87. It means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Key word : Effect, Podcasts, Speaking ability
