Abstract
Based on the researcher’s preliminary observation at Senior High School 3 Mandau, the researcher found that some of students of the first year still do not understand the meaning of descriptive text correctly. This research aimed at finding out students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text taught by using and without using Question Answer Relationship strategy, and whether there is a significant difference and effect of using Question Answer Relationship strategy on students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text at Senior High School 3 Mandau. The population of the research was the first year students of Senior High School 3 Mandau in academic year 2016/2017. They consisted of ten classes. The sample classes were 80 taken from two classes (40 students in each class). The type of this research was QuasiExperiment. To analyze the data, the researcher adopted independent sample Ttest formula by using SPSS 16 version. The researcher found that there is a significant difference between taught and without being taught by using Question Answer Relation strategy on students’ reading comprehension at the first year of Senior High School 3 Mandau, where to showed 9.224 in the significance level of 5% which was 1.99, and in the level of 1% which was 2.65. It can be shown by 1.99<9.224>2.64. Significance was 0.000 < 0.05. So, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. And alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.
