Abstract
Based on School Based Curriculum (KTSP), reading is one of the English language skills that must be taught and learned in Junior High School. Islamic junior high school Al-Huda Pekanbaruis a school which uses KTSP as the curriculum in the teaching and learning process. After doing observation in Islamic junior high school Al-Huda Pekanbaru, the writer found that the students still had difficulties in understanding the narrative text. In this case, the teacher was expected to find a good method in order to give a good contribution to increase students’ ability in understanding the narrative text by applying two stay two straystrategy as a replacement of previous strategy or technique. This research consisted of two variables; they were two stay two stray strategy as variable X, and students’ reading comprehension as variable Y. The type of this research was experimental research. The writer used quasi-experimental design which was intended to find out the effect of using two stay two straystrategy on reading comprehension on narrative text of the students at Islamic junior high school Al-Huda Pekanbaru. In analyzing the data, the writer used statistical analysis which used SPSS computer program. It was obtained that tobserved was higher than ttable. It means, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It could be stated that 2.00<10.324>2.65. In conclusion, there was significant effect of using two stay two stray strategy on reading comprehension on narrative text of the students at Islamic junior high school Al-Huda Pekanbaru.
