Abstract

This research is entitled “ The Use of One Word Story Game on Students’ Speaking Ability at Vocational High School Muhammadiyah 3 Terpadu Pekanbaru”. In this research, the research design was a quasi experimental research. The population of this research was the tenth grade of students’ Vocational High School Muhammadiyah 3 Terpadu Pekanbaru in 2018/2019 academic year. The sample of this research consisted of 2 classes (experiment and control), each class consist of 25 students. The researcher choose the sample by using Cluster Random Sampling. There were two variable in this research, that was x variable (One Word Story), and y variable (Speaking Ability). The purpose of this research was to know there is any signifficant effect taught by using One Word Story on students speaking ability of tenth grade at Vocational High School Muhammadiyah 3 Terpadu Pekanbaru. The researcher used content validity and inter-rater reliability. The researcher used speaking test to collecting the data. While in analyzing the data, the researcher used Independent Sample T test and Effect Size, it was eased by using SPSS 22 program. Based on the data analysis, the writer concluded that there is a significant effect of using one word story on students speaking ability of the tenth grade at Vocational High School Muhammadiyah 3 Terpadu Pekanbaru. It was considered from Sig (2tailed)=0.000 that was smaller than α (0.05). It means that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. From the research findings, it showed that there was a significant effect of using one word story on students speaking ability of the first grade at Vocational High School Muhammadiyah 3 Terpadu Pekanbaru.
