Abstract

Based on the researcher’s preliminary observation, the students at the SMK Taruna Satria Pekanbaru got some of the phenomena in their self awareness. It can be seen when the students have to comprehend the text that teacher gave, but they were not aware about that. The aim of the research was to find out the correlation between students’ self awareness and their reading comprehension of the tenth grade at SMK Taruna Satria Pekanbaru. This research was correlational design. The population and sample of this research was the tenth grade students of SMK Taruna Satria Pekanbaru. There were 31 samples which were selected by using systematic sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire and reading comprehension test, and analyzed the data by using pearson product moment on SPSS 25 program. After analyzing the data, the result of sig.t.0.000 was smaller than 0.05 (sig≤0.05). It could be stated that Ha (alternative hypothesis) was accepted. In other words, there was a significant correlation between students’ self awareness and their reading comprehension at the tenth grade of SMK Taruna Satria Pekanbaru.
