Abstract

This research was a correlational study which aimed at finding out whether there is a correlation between students’ openness personality and their listening comprehension or not. Subject of the research was the students at eleventh grade of SMK Telekomunikasi Pekanbaru and the object was correlation between students’ openness personality and their listening comprehension. Population of the research was 250 students and the sample of the research was 38 students which was taken by using simple random sampling technique. To know the correlation between both variables, the researcher used pearson product moment by using SPSS 23 version. The result of the research showed that there was a significant correlation between students’ openness personality and their listening comprehension. It could be seen as follows: score of coefficient correlation was 0.765 > 0.320 on the level of significance 5% and on the level of significance 1% was 0.413. It indicates that Ha was accepted which showed there was a significant correlation between students’ openness personality and their listening comprehension. Sig. value (2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05, it indicates that there was a significant correlation between students’ openness personality and their listening comprehension.
