Abstract

his research was entitled “The Use of Content-Purpose-Audience Strategy to Increase Students’ Ability in Writing Analytical Exposition Text at Senior High School 3 Rambah Hilir”.The research had 3 formulations of the problem, how the students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text taught without using Content-Purpose-Audience strategy is, how the students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text taught by using Content-Purpose-Audience strategy is, and whether there is a significant effect or not of using ContentPurpose-Audience strategy for the students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text of the eleventh grade at Senior High School 3 Rambah Hilir. This research was a quasi-experimental research. Therefore, this research used two classes; control class and experimental class. The subject of the research was the eleventh grade students of Senior High School 3 Rambah Hilir. The object of this research was Content-Purpose-Audience strategy and their writing ability in analytical exposition text. The sample of this research used cluster random sampling. There were 40 students as sample from 52 students. To analyze the data, the researcher used independent sample t-test by using SPSS 23 version and effect size formula by Julie Pallant. Based on the data analysis, the researcher found that the result of effect size formula was 0.73. It was categorized into large effect. It means that there was a significant effect of using Content-PurposeAudience strategy for students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text at Senior High School 3 Rambah Hilir.
