Abstract

This research was correlation research aimed at knowing the correlation between students’ motivation and their reading comprehension of narrative text at the second grade of Islamic Junior High School of Al Muttaqin Pekanbaru. The formulation of this research were; How was the students’ motivation, How was students’ reading comprehension? Was any significant correlation between students’ motivation and their reading comprehension of narrative text at the second grade of Islamic Junior High School of Al Muttaqin Pekanbaru? 134 students were population in this research. 33 students were the samples. Random sampling technique wa used for taking the sample. For collecting the data, the writer were used questionnaire and test. Simple regression linear formula was the technique of analyzing the data. Based on the data analysis show that R square was 0.034. It means that the correlation between students’ motivation and their reading comprehension of narrative text that was on low category. It could be concluded that there was no correlation between students’ motivation and their reading comprehension of narrative text.
