It covers reading motivation and reading speed. The method which was used in this research was correlational study. The population of the research was the eight grade students of SMP Plus Terpadu Pekanbaru academic year of 2017/2018. However, only 20 students were chosen as the sample by using simple random sampling. Furthermore, there were two variables in this research. The students’ reading motivation score was taken from the questionnaire whereas the students’ reading speeds was taken from oral reading test. In analyzing the data and testing the hypothesis, the writer used Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation formula. From the data analysis, it was found that there is significant correlation between students’ reading motivation and their reading speed. This result showed the alternative hypothesis (Hα) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be seen from the result of the obtained rxy = 0.867 is bigger than rt with significance level 0.01 = 0.561 (0.867 > 0.561) and 75.17% students’ reading speed was influnced by reading motivation. Keywords: Reading, Reading Motivation, Reading Speed.
