Abstract

The main focus of this research is to investigate whether there was a significant difference of Learning Styles (Visual, Auditory, and Kinaesthetic) in Reading Comprehension at The Tenth Grade Students of State Senior High School 1 Kampar Timur. This research had two variables, Learning Styles (Visual, Auditory, and Kinaesthetic) as an independent variable and students’ reading comprehension as a dependent variable. This research was a causalcomparative research. The population of this research was the tenth-grade students of State Senior High School 1 Kampar Timur. The writer selected 20 students pergroup (Visual, Auditory, and Kinaesthetic) from the population as the sample by purposive sampling. There were 60 students as a sample out of 170 students. In collecting the data, the writer used learning styles survey questionnaire and reading comprehension test. In analyzing the data, the writer used descriptive statistic and one way ANOVA formula calculated by using SPSS 17.0 version. Based on the analysis of descriptive statistic, reading comprehension of visual and auditory students are categorized into sufficient level, while reading comprehension of kinaesthetic students is categorized into less level. Then, the analysis of one way ANOVA Formula, the result showed that the p-value is 0.017 lower than 0.05 (0.017 < 0.05). Hence, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded there is a significant difference of Learning Styles (Visual, Auditory, and Kinaesthetic) in Reading Comprehension at The Tenth Grade Students of State Senior High School 1 Kampar Timur.
