Abstract

ABSTRACT Agus Suprayitno, (2019): An Analysis of Students’ Motivation in Learning Descriptive Text at the Seventh Grade of Junior High School 14 Pekanbaru. The Purpose of this study is to know the students’ motivation in learning descriptive text at the Seventh Grade of Junior HighSchool 14 Pekanbaru. From 280 students of the total population which consisted of eight classes, the researcher took 42 students as the sample by using simple random sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher distributed questionnaire to the respondents to measure their motivation in learning descriptive text. The questionnaire is based on eight indicators by Frymier cited in Rahim, and combined with descriptive components by Suwardati. In analyzing the data, the questionnaire is assessed by rating scale. The result of this research showed that the students’ motivation in learning descriptive text is 69%, and it is categorized into high level of motivation. Based on the research finding, it can be concluded that the students have high motivation in learning descriptive text. Keywords: Motivation in Learning Descriptive Text, Analysis
