Abstract
Based on the researcher’s preliminary observation when doing PPL Program in 2015, and interviewing Ms. Suci Maulida Muchtar S. Pd, the English teacher of the eleventh grade at Islamic Senior High School Pesantren Teknologi Riau Pekanbaru, it was found that some of the eleventh grade students had problems in speaking skill. They could not reach the passing grade (KKM). The main focus of this research was to find out whether there was a significant difference between using and without using Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) method on students’ speaking skill in spoof text at Islamic Senior High School Pesantren Teknologi Riau Pekanbaru. The writer formulated the problems that would be answered by using the quantitative research. This research had two variable; Using STAD method as an indipendent variable and students’ speaking skill as a dependent variable. The type of research was a Quasi-experimental research. The subject of this research was the eleventh grade students at State Islamic Senior High School Pesantren Teknologi Riau Pekanbaru. The researcher took two classes; experiment and control. There we 28 students as sample from 28 of the eleventh grade students. In collecting the data, the writer used oral presentation. In analyzing the data, the researcher used an independent t-test formula by using SPSS 16 version. Based on the analysis of T-test Formula, Ha was accepted because the sig. value is 0.015<0.50. The research was concluded that there is significant difference of using Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) method on speaking skill of the eleventh garade students at Islamic Senior High School Pesantren Teknologi Riau Pekanbaru.
